The state government of Rajasthan has officially announced the new revised Rajasthan Sahyog Uphar Yojana. Under the revised scheme, the state government has announced to increase the amount of money it gives to the family at the time of daughter’s marriage. According to the new regulations stated, the government will now be giving double the sum of money it used to give under early scheme.

Launch Details

  • The scheme was launched by the Rajasthan state government and will be completely regulated by Empowerment and Social Justice Department in the state.
  • The government aims at offering benefit of the scheme for all marriages that have been conducted after April 1st 2017 onwards.

Key Features

  • Aim :- With the launch of the new scheme the state government aims at offering with helping hand to the girls and parents belonging to backward class families and sharing the burden parents have to face to get their daughters married.
  • Free gift plan – Under the new scheme the government of the state shall be offering with financial assistance to the families so they don’t have to borrow money after selling or mortgaging their homes or land at the time of marriage of their daughters.
  • Social benefit – Once the scheme has been fully launched the family of the married girl can start their new life maintaining their status in the society as the burden of repayment of the borrowed money will not stress them.
  • Moral benefit – As the parents of the girl may not have to worry about the paying any money at the time of their daughters marriage so they can focus on helping the girl to complete her education so she can be independent after her marriage living a better social life.
  • Beneficiaries benefits– With an aim to offer help to maximum girls within the state who belong to poor families, the state government shall offer benefit for around 6000 families from Lachbhanti and 5000 families from Antyodaya cities.
  • Budget – For effective implementation of the scheme within the government has declared a budget of Rs 12 crore for the fiscal year 2017-18.

Financial Assistance Details

  • A sum of Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 10,000 shall be offered to the girl for marriage by the Department of Social Empowerment.
  • If the girl has completed her 10th and 12th grade school then for her marriage the state government will be providing with Rs 30,000 instead of Rs 15,000.
  • In case the girl has completed her graduation and then decides to marry then she will be given a sum of Rs 40,000 as compared to Rs 20,000 earlier.

Eligibility criteria

  • To be eligible under the scheme the girl has to be a resident of Rajasthan state. To take the benefit parents will have to provide with necessary birth related documents.
  • The scheme will only offer benefit to the girl if she is of legal age (18 years old) and above at the time of marriage.
  • The scheme will only offer benefit to the girl who belong to the BPL (Below Poverty Line) families and backward class section of the society.
  • Any girl who has completed her minimum 10th grade education and belongs to BPL family can take the benefit of the scheme at the time of her marriage.
  • The scheme will also offer benefit to any girl or family or orphan girl who is a valid Trust card holder from the state and belonging to any section of the society.
  • Any widow within the state who belongs to economic weaker section of the society and is not married yet will also be able to take full benefit, provided her family income should be below Rs 50,000 annually.

Documents required

  • The beneficiary has to provide with their copy of documents that provides with proof of their domicile. This includes Birth certificates, school certificates, election cards, voters ID, Aadhar card etc.
  • As the girls legal age to get married is important so she or her guardian will have to provide with her age proof at the time of marriage. This includes documents like birth certificate, birth registration, school leaving certificates, mark sheets, voter cards and Aadhar card.
  • The scheme will only offer benefit to BPL family so they may have to provide with copy of caste certificate, trust cards or other relevant document.
  • If the applicant belongs to SC/ST or BC then they will have to show their identity card proving to which class of society they belong.

How to Apply

  • According to regulations stated, the parent or guardian of the girl is eligible to apply under the scheme. The process of application can be made by them at least one month in advance to over 15 days after the marriage ceremony.
  • You can apply under the scheme via official Rajasthan state government official website or via other online web portals including e-friends.
  • When applying the parent or the guardian will also have to upload the marriage certificate for making the claim of the gift amount by the government.
  • Offline registration forms can be submitted by the parents one month in advance or at least till six months after the marriage. You can collect the forms for nearest social Justice office departments.

The state government of Rajasthan with the launch of the scheme aims at offering with financial assistance to the girls of poor families at the time of marriage. It also aims at relieving the burden from parents or guardians shoulders.
