• The scheme is to develop the transportation facility in all the rural and remote rural areas. The scheme will begin by masking the eastern and northeastern parts of the country. In the initial phase, the initiative will cover more or less the whole northeastern states (possibly 20 states), starting with Chhattisgarh.
• The scheme will provide practically 80, 1000 vehicles to the non-urban and remote rural areas. The vehicles are available in the non-urban areas so that folks can avail those to travel easily from one corner to another.
• The employees that will be handled these vehicles will be from BPL families, women home help groups and some other backward people. These types of yojana will open up a sizable opportunity for non-urban employment as well.
• PMGPY  was   started by Atal Bihari Bajpayee government  in the  year  2000 .
• The purpose of this scheme is to improve the rural public transport facility.
• Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana  , a road has been built to connect each village, but there is no public transport facility.
•  And there the government will give loan to buy 10 – 12 seats vehicle for public transport without taking interest. 
• Under this scheme, loans   will be given without  interest for  at  least   8000  commercial vehicles in 250 blocks across the country.
•  Loan  will be given by the government  without  interest  to buy  a transport  vehicle with  10-12 seats  under  PMGPY .
•  Under  PMGPY ,  loans  will be given  to women especially to buy transport vehicles .
• Apart from this, a  loan  of up to  6 lakhs  will be given by  the government without  interest .
• And the  loan  time  has been kept up to  6 months.
•  The transport vehicles that have been taken under this scheme will have to provide facilities connecting 20 to 22 kilometers or more centers at least in a day. 
• Due to the implementation of PMGPY  scheme, there will be a new creation of employment in rural areas.

Along with loan facility , he central government is providing interest subsidy as well. In every loan for the commercial vehicle interest subsidy of 30% to 35% will be given to the applicant. That means whatever be the interest the person has to bear only 65% of the interest amount. The rest amount will be paid by the central government.

PMGPY Loan

1. Under this scheme, a loan  will be given by the government to buy a  10 to 12  seater transport vehicle  .
2. Under Pradhan Mantri Gram Parivahan Yojana , the limit of loan amount  to the applicant is  Rs.6  lakh.
3.  The loan  period under this scheme is  6 months  , that is, the  loan should be repaid  within  6  months .

PMGPY Subsidy

•  Under this scheme, as much as 30% to 35%  subsidy  will be given on the loan taken through the government. 
• And the beneficiary of this scheme  will have to return 65% or 70%  of the  total  loan amount.

PMGPY Loan Interest Rate

 No interest  will be given on the  loan  taken by the applicant under this scheme.
