Padanaveedu Scheme in Kerala Under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan tribal children

A new scheme has been running successfully within the state of Kerala termed as the Padanaveedu scheme. It is a new initiative taken by state government and other NGO organizations to help the tribal children get better education, shelter, food and clothing under the same roof. The shelter that is established at Idukki, Marayur is a home to over 32 tribal children who are being provided with these facilities.

The scheme has been operational within the state for tribal children for few time now. According to the sources, the scheme has been regulated and implemented well under the SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) policy of the state government and the centre.

Key Features

  • According to latest updates under this scheme tribal children who have been dropout from the present formal system of education and schooling are being provided with the benefit of rights to education.
  • The main scheme also focuses more on helping the tribal children with all other basic facilities including Clothing, feeding and shelter so they can be reintroduced back to the formal system of education in local schools.
  • The scheme mainly targets providing assistance to children belonging to the nearby tribal areas.
  • The scheme has been reintroduced for the benefit of the tribal children in coordination with other officials from SSA and Anganwadi.
  • The officials had carried out a brief survey that was done within 28 tribal villages in different districts to collect data of school dropouts.
  • According to latest updates from eh sources, the children are provided with fresh cooked meals every day. The meals are cooked by the Kudumbashree workers at the shelter home every morning.
  • The children are also provided with proper lessons in English, Math, Malayalam and Hindi by some of the trained teachers from community.
  • They are also offered with cultural activities including music, arts and crafts. This will help them gain knowledge and excitement of education.
