Nabakrushna Choudhury Secha Unnayan Yojana

Recently the Orissa government has given approval to a new scheme namely nabakrushna Choudhary Secha Unnayan Yojana. The scheme name has given in tribute to the freedom fighter and ex- chief minister of Orissa Nabakrushna Choudhury. Under this scheme there will be 10 projects that will start off soon. The budget for this scheme has also been set. The sub-schemes under this scheme will get more budgets allocated now than earlier times.

Launched Details

The scheme was announced on 22nd November 2017. Chief Minister of the state of Orissa Shree Naveen Patnaik has announced the scheme in the state cabinet ministry meeting. It will be a state run scheme and state government will supervise the scheme. The sub-schemes will be supervised by respective ministries.

Key Features

  • As mentioned that there are number of sub-schemes under the scheme, firstly in the agricultural sector around 55 hector lands will get irrigation facilities under the scheme.
  • Value Added Tax or VAT, which is now levied on LPG at 15%, will be reduced under this scheme. According to the CM the rate will be 5% from now onwards. Hence the price of the LPG, for residential or commercial purposes will reduce.
  • On the educational front, under Orissa Higher Education Project on Excellence and Equity the government will improve the learning as well as the teaching process in the state. It will help the students and teachers to enhance their skill.
  • Another project under Berhampur Municipal Corporation has been approved by the cabinet. Under this scheme the treatment and scientific disposal of solid waste by municipality and secondary transportation will be modified for betterment.
  • Promotion of Orissa Social Welfare officers and the improvement in child and women development department will also take place under this scheme. The authority will accelerate the promotion process as it was stuck up for a long time.
  • Orissa Municipal Act, 1950 as well as Orissa Municipal Corporation Act, 2013 amendments got approval as well while launching the Nabakrushna Choudhury Scheme by the CM of Orissa.
  • In earlier times the victims who got hit by any wild animal across the state used to get Rs. 3 Lac compensation from the government. Under this new scheme the compensation will be Rs. 4 Lac.
  • In the ORS Recruitment Rule, 2011, the revenue officers will get promotion as well. The experience to get promoted has reduced to 5 years of service to 10 years of service.

Budget

Rs. 635 Cr has been allocated as the total budget for the scheme. The scheme will be beneficial for many people in diverse sectors in the state. Government is planning to bring funds from World Bank to fund these 10 projects under this scheme.
