The Mukhyamantri Solar Pump Yojana has been taken up for implementation in the state of Madhya Pradesh. According to the information the scheme has been designed especially for ensuring that the farmers in the rural areas do not have to suffer from loses due to lack of water. The central and the state authorities are going to work in unison for providing the farmers with water pumping machines, which are powered by the solar panels. The machines will be provided to the farmers at low prices. The decision has been taken so that even the poor farmers can get the benefits of the scheme. Key features of Mukhyamantri Solar Pump Yojana

By taking a look at the various features of the scheme, people will be able to understand what the government is up to:

  1. Subsidy amount of the scheme – There are no extra points for guessing that the installation of the solar powered water pumps is an expensive affair. As per the guidelines of the program, the government will provide the selected farmers with the advantage of 90% subsidy for the installations.
  2. Farmers’ annual expense – The farmers who will be selected by the government for getting the pumps installed by the government will only have to fund 10% of the total expenses. The government has decided not to put pressure on the poor farmers. So, the agricultural workers will have to shell out Rs. 14,000 on a yearly basis.
  3. Advantage for ST/SC farmers – As always, there is something extra for the development of the agricultural workers who fall in the category of ST or SC. The government has made arrangements of providing them with power for 5 hours and no charges will be levied on them for this.
  4. Power consumption – According to the points mentioned in the scheme, the subsidy will also be given to the farmers on the total units of electricity they consume. The subsidized rate will only be applicable at a rate of Rs. 1.75/unit when the total consumption will exceed 1500 units.
  5. Power intensity to be used – For the operation of the pumping machines, both direct and alternate current can be used. But it has to have certain intensity. For the pumping action to be properly done, 5 horse power of both types of electricity will be made available.
  6. Coverage area – As per the guidelines of the program, the central government will assist the state government of MP to bring all the rural areas under the scheme. The governments will provide the farmers water pumping machines, which operate by solar energy. All those areas, which are placed more than 300 meters from the electricity connection towers, will be benefited by the scheme.

Eligibility criteria for Mukhyamantri Solar Pump Yojana

The program has not been designed for providing the benefits to all farmers. There are many agricultural workers who are wealthy enough to afford the facilities. The poor farmers have been targeted by the state government. For registering under the scheme, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Firstly, the policy has been taken for the development of the agricultural workers in residing in the state of MP. Thus, only those people will be able to register under the scheme, who are residents of the state.
  2. The area must not be served by electricity and the farmer must have all the legal documents, which are required under the plan. Only those areas will be served, which have water shortage.

Area to be covered Under Mukhyamantri Solar Pump Yojana

  1. The program documents say that the solar cell panels for powering water pumps will be installed in the areas, which do not have access to electricity and has no possibility of being brought under electrification at least for 2 to 3 years.
  2. The commercial gain of the companies, associated with the distribution of power will not be the same for all places. Thus, the state government has decided areas where profit is low will be selected first.
  3. The Regulatory Commission will survey rural areas, which are not having electricity. Then the Commission will prepare the list, where the consumption of power is expected to be over 1500 units.

Documents required for the scheme

The interested candidate will have to get their names registered within the specified dates. All the applications will have to be filled online, via the official website of the scheme. The farmers will have to upload the following documents with the application form:

  1. ID Proofs – The farmers, opting for the policy will have to provide such documents, which will be able to support their claim of ID. They will have to produce the Aadhar Card and other such legal papers.
  2. Residential proofs – The farmers will also have to provide such documents, which will support their claims about the residence. The Aadhar Card or the Voter ID card that has the residential address printed on it will do.
  3. Ownership of the farm – For notifying the authority about the location of the farm, the persons will have to provide the papers, associated with the ownership of the farm land. It will make it easy for the authorities to verify the furnished details.
  4. Bank details – All the interested candidates will have to provide the authorities with the details of the bank accounts. It is required for making the monetary transactions in the future. This information will also assist in verifications.

How to apply for the scheme?

Registering is only available via the online portal of the scheme. The following are the steps, involved in the registration procedure:

  1. The first thing that any interested candidate will have to do is get into the official websites. The candidate can either check out www.mprenewable.nic.in.
  2. Once the home page has opened, the candidate will have to get to the Registration Link. The link has been marked on the portal as “Avedan Kare.” Once the link is clicked, the application form opens up.
  3. The candidate will have to type in all the details (the name of the candidate, age, permanent address, contact details, name of the father, Aadhar details, details of the bank account, Voter Card details, details of the solar pumps etc.) asked by the authorities.
  4. Once the application form has been filled in without any errors, the candidates will have to click the “Submit” option. This will save the application in the server of the authority and will be used for verification and scrutiny.

According to the official reports, after the central government launched the program, the state of Madhya Pradesh has applied for getting the advantages under the scheme. The implementation of the scheme has been set in action in the state as announced by the Chief Minister of the State, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. It has been mentioned that the starting of the application of the program will commence from the 16th of April, 2017 and will be terminated on the 15th of May, 2017. The decision of implementing the policy was already been taken by the central government, during the presentation of the Budget for 2016.

According to the decision of the state government, all the electricity providing companies will be provided with a whopping sum of 7900 crores for the proper distribution of the power. The farmers will end up getting a subsidy of 76 crores under the scheme.
